A tan is an accessory that many of us have pulled off over the years. It can be amazing to see how the effects of the sun make such a difference to our outfit However, we don’t always have the hours needed to lay in the sunshine and soak it up ourselves. So what do we do? Turn to fake tan, of course. There are so many ways you can fake the sun-kissed look, such as fake tan lotion, spray tans, and even tanning beds, but where did they all come from? Back in World War II, women wanted to get a “healthy glow,” but they didn’t have the time to spend in the sun all day. Instead, they would use tea bags to fake the color. Fast forward ten years and the first fake tan was released. Only, it would change the color of your skin rather than sitting on top. At last, we were one step closer to the fake tan that we know and love today.
As the years have continued to fly by, fake tan has come in and out of fashion. Having a tan was once a way to show the world you had the time and money to jet off on vacation. Now, people tan for various reasons. Although many people have started to embrace their natural color, it looks as though some celebrities couldn’t imagine anything worse than appearing on the red carpet looking washed out. Imagine what people might say! While some stars have found the perfect combination to make their tan look as natural as possible, it seems as though others might have taken it a step too far over the years. Either way, these celebs love tanning at any chance they get – especially when the red carpet needs to be owned.
