What the media loves to cover as much as the movies themselves is the stars that rock the red carpet of this distinguished award festival. There are names like Natalie Portman, Cate Blanchett, Angelina Jolie, and Jessica Chastain that are thrown around the red carpet, as well as designers such as Gucci, Versace, Michael Kors and Prada. The style of the festival is all about glamor and chic. The men and women are expected to wear the very best of couture and make sure that they arrive looking like the movie stars that they are.
When the General Delegate of the festival was asked what the mission of the festival, he said: “In order to achieve this level of longevity the Festival de Cannes has remained faithful to its founding purpose: to draw attention to and raise the profile of films, with the air of contributing towards the development of cinema, boosting the film industry worldwide and celebrating cinema at an international level. And to this day, this profession of faith constitutes the first article of the Festival regulations.”
There are more and more films coming to the festival each year, with new faces being introduced annually as well. The younger generation is here to stay (or at least until the even younger one arrives as well). Needless to say, festival goers and photographers were fighting to get these two’s attention!
