This show, based on a United States Military Mobile Army Surgical Hospital (MASH) unit operating in the middle of the Korean war, was one of the most accurate portrayals of the lives of front line military doctors ever produced. 

M*A*S*H accurately depicts how these brave men and women of the various front line MASH units had to deal with the horrors of war the only way they knew how – through dark humor and joking around as much as they could in order to escape the horrors of the brutal conflict going on all around them.


The show, centered around US military doctors Maj. Margaret ‘Hot Lips’ O’Houlihan and Captain Benjamin Franklin Pierce, the show went on to have 11 seasons over the span of 11 years. In fact, many people love to point out that the show itself actually lasted longer than the entirety of the Korean war!

M*A*S*H really struck a chord with audiences as it debuted at the height of the war in Vietnam. People viewed the show to be as much about what was going on in Vietnam as about what went on in Korea, and really helped people in the United States to truly understand what it is like to be at war, and how difficult it is to be there for the soldiers on both sides.
