Actresses you had no idea were pregnant while filming

Bringing a baby into the world can be a wonderful experience. It’s not just knowing you’re about to welcome a new child into your family, but the experience itself. Although it can be very difficult, especially in certain medical predicaments, but it’s also an exhilarating thing to know one is carrying a human life inside her growing belly.

Many people think that celebrities have it easy, just because they have cushy jobs, and money that allows them to hire as many nannies as they can fit in a nursery. But actresses go through the same hardships as regular people do, especially when they’re having a baby. They have the same problems and concerns as everyone does.

And when they’re in the middle of a movie production, or filming a TV show they’re on, it can be challenging. Hearing one of the actresses is pregnant is always great news, but it forces the production to make a decision. They can either incorporate the pregnancy into the plot, and have the character itself have a baby, or they can try to cover it up. Either way, working around a pregnancy has its challenges.

If you’ve ever seen a TV show trying to hide an actress’ burgeoning belly, you know it can get pretty hilarious. Some productions hide them behind cushions, lamps, baggy clothing, and large purses. Others give them a plot line that enables them to lie around in bed for the rest of the season. And some just have some fun with it!

In movies, it is possible to do reshoots and have stunt doubles fill in the blanks whenever necessary. It’s even possible to have them wear dot maps on their faces, so the original actress’ face could be added later using computer graphic interface (or CGI). Films definitely need more resources to handle this kind of situation, because most times, they can’t just change the plot and make the character have a baby when it’s not supposed to. That would be changing the whole movie!

It’s also very challenging for the actress herself, when she has to keep working while dealing with morning sickness, hormone induced migraines, and other pregnancy-related issues. It’s not exactly a desk job, and there usually isn’t a lot of rest involved in acting. You have to be active, and sometimes even perform stunts. Sometimes you have to show up on set in the wee hours of the morning, to go through several hours of hair and makeup. It can be grueling.

But these actresses have done it seamlessly. They worked long hours on set and made sure everything goes smoothly, despite the hardships. And frankly, we haven’t even noticed most of them were pregnant while filming these movies and TV shows.
