Get transported back in time to the 8th to 11th centuries and find yourself exhilarated by both of the war and love scenes. There are currently 5 seasons of this series, all of full of cliffhangers and good-looking characters, which makes it the perfect binge-watch. Vikings is not only a hit television show with millions of viewers worldwide but it is also a historical drama based on the actual life of the famous Viking Ragnar Lothbrok. He is the most infamous Viking in history, who was notorious for his scourges of both France and England. Ragnar rises to become king of Scandinavia, which is no small feat. Once he dies on screen, the show continues to follow his five sons and their adventures to the Mediterranean. The show trails the Vikings who discover the west and the riches they hold. They begin to venture overseas with their newly fashioned longboats and explore what the more modern countries like France and England have to offer. Alexander Ludwig as Bjorn Lothbrok

Bjorn Lothbrok is the firstborn son of Ragnar Lothbrok and his first wife Lagertha. Bjorn is a natural leader and just like his father he is also an impressive warrior with a thirst for adventure to seek out foreign lands. Bjorn is forever trying to prove his independence and worthiness as a warrior to his father. While Bjorn is strong and a formidable warrior he still lacks the maturity and foresight to understand the politics behind ruling, the way his father does.

Alexander Ludwig – in real life

Alexander Ludwig is a Canadian actor that has been starring in films since he was a kid. His first movie was back in 2000 when he was featured in Air Bud: World Pup. Alexander gained fame throughout the years and he really made a name for himself when he starred in the movie The Hunger games as Cato. For his role in the Hunger Games, Alexander received two Teen Choice Awards for Best Movie Villain. Alexander is currently acting in two television series – Swerve and Vikings.

Jennie Jacques as Judith

Judith is the princess turned Queen of Wessex. She is the daughter of Queen Ealhwith and King Aelle. She loved Athelstan deeply but was instead forced to marry Prince Aethelwulf by her parents who arranged their marriage. Once Althelstan, the monk who was taken to be a slave by Ragnar Lothbrok, dies, Judith becomes the lover of King Ecbert – Aethelwulf’s father and therefore Judith’s father-in-law, as well as an being the ambitious King of Wessex and Mercia.

Jennie Jacques – in real life

Jennie Jacques is an English actress who was born in 1989 and grew up in Coventry, England. She is actually the second actress to play Judith on Vikings, after Sarah Greene played her in the first two seasons. She rose to fame when she starred in the BBC six-episode drama Desperate Romantics. Jennie also starred in the television series Father Brown, The Bill, Love Life, and Vikings: Athelstan’s Journal. She has been featured on the big screen as well in movies like Shank, Cherry Tree Lane, 7 Lives, and Demons Never Die.

Gaia Weiss as Thorunn

Thorunn was only a servant and consort of Bjorn when she was first featured on Vikings. Bjorn is the son of King Ragnar and despite the fact that Thorunn is beneath his status, Bjorn is still very much in love with her. Aslaug releases Thorunn from slavery when it is clear that the two are in love. Thorunn trains with Lagertha to be a shield maiden and she goes off to Wessex to fight with Ragnar’s army. Thorunn explains that she is pregnant and the two get married.

Gaia Weiss – in real life

Gaia Weiss is a French actress and model who started out as an accomplished ballerina. She is most famously known for portraying Mary Fleming in the film Mary Queen of Scots as well as Hebe in the film The Legend of Hercules. She also starred as Devin in Overdrive and Vivienne in Serial Teachers 2. However, she is most widely known for portraying Þorunn in the television series Vikings. Most recently Gaia was featured on an episode of the hit television show Outlander.

Josefin Asplund as Astrid

Astrid is introduced late in the television series Vikings. However, she makes an impression when she entered the show in season 4 as part of Lagertha’s court where she will be trained in the art of war as well as the equally important art of love in order to become a successful shield maiden. Lagertha is a mighty warrior and the reigning queen of Denmark. Asrid is later kidnapped and forced to be married off to Herald, thus making her the Queen of Rogaland as well as Vestfold.

Josefin Asplund – in real life

Josefin Asplund is a 26 year old Swedish actress who grew up in Stockholm, Sweden. She is most famously known for acting in the hit movies like The Girl With the Dragon Tatoo as Pernilla, playing Sonja Hansson in the movie Call Girl as well as portraying Rebecka Mohlin in the film The Circle. Josefin has been staring in the television series Vikings since season 4 and we hope to see her again in the next seasons of Vikings as well.

Jessalyn Gilsig as Siggy Haraldson

Siggy was the wife of the late Earl Haraldson, who was the chief of the Vikings in Kattegat before Ragnar Lothbrok took over. Siggy and her husband were madly in love and she was devastated when he died. Siggy was a manipulative woman but a loyal wife. Siggy and her husband succeeded in having one daughter named Thyri. However, once she has a vision that her daughter has died she drowns in the lake while rescuing the Ragnar and Aslaug’s sons and does not fight to survive.

Jessalyn Gilsig – in real life

Jessalyn Gilsig is a Canadian actress who has graced our favorite television series such as Boston Public, Nip/Tuck, Glee and of course Vikings. Jessalyn has an even more impressive background. She is a McGill graduate and she also attended Harvard University’s Institute for Advanced Theater Training. Jessalyn also played some minor roles in Prison Break, Friday Night Lights, Scandal, and in the movie Prom Night. Jessalyn ended up marrying her high school sweetheart and football quarterback Bobby Salomon, though the two divorced in 2010. They have one child together.

Travis Fimmel as Ragnar Lothbrok

Ragnar earned the name Lothbrok when he cleverly beat King Siward in combat by evading Siward’s deadly serpents with his coat of armor fashioned from an animal hide. Ragnar led the first ever Viking raid on England, successfully retrieving slaves and plunder. Ragnar challenged the Earl to a battle and won, thus becoming Lothbrok, King of the Northmen. He married to Lagertha, but she appeared to become infertile, he takes Princess Aslaug for his second wife. He is ultimately killed by King Aelle in season 4.

Georgia Hirst as Torvi

Torvi is not just any shield-maiden, she is a princess. She was also the second wife of the former Earl Borg who died at the hand of Ragnar. Her second husband wasn’t an improvement and was abusive to her. So she decided to take matters into her own hands and kill her husband, Erlendur. Most recently, she has run away with Bjorn, the firstborn son of Ragnar, and the two lovers live in Kattegat. You know what they say, the third time’s the charm.

Georgia Hirst – in real life

Georgia Hirst was born in 1994 and her first break out role was actually on Vikings. It may surprise you to know that Georgia has no previous experience in television shows or in movies. This young actress started out in the London Drama Centre before making her way to our television screens. She is actually the daughter of the famous Michael Hirst, who just so happens to be the writer and creator of Vikings. Her sister, Maude Hirst, also acts on the show as Helga. One big happy family indeed.

Travis Fimmel – in real life

Travis Fimmel is an Australian model and actor. He was spotted by a top male modeling agency in a Melbourne gym where he was broke and barefoot. The agency signed him on the spot and he went on to be a successful model and landed high-profile campaigns such as Calvin Klien. People magazine called Travis “the most in-demand male model in the world”. He later moved to television and movies where he starred in The Beast, Warcraft and of course, Vikings.

Ida Nielsen as Margrethe

Margrethe was once a slave in Kattegat. As a slave, she was shared by the four sons of Ragnar (the King of the Danes) and was a lover to each of them except for Ivar, who would be content with just watching. Ubbe, the son of Ragnar later frees Margarethe from slavery in order to marry her. Ubbe decided to no longer share his wife with his brothers even though Margethe still equally loves his brother Hvitserk.

Ida Nielsen – in real life

Ida Nielson is surprisingly a very young actress, born in 1996 she has already paved an impressive career for herself in show business. She started acting when she was only 11 years old. She went on to star in her very first movie in 2008 called A Viking Saga: Son of Thor. Ida also portrayed Cecilie Hansen in the television series Anna Pihl. She also starred in the film Monsterjægerne as well as Lev stærkt.

Clive Standen – as Rollo

Rollo is King Ragnar Lothbrok’s older brother. Rollo is famously known for being a warrior to be reckoned with. Rollo also believes in the Gods, especially the God named Thor, he is also quite the hedonist. Rollo is best known for wielding a fearsome ax and is a bloodthirsty man who is consistently trying to leave his little brother’s shadow to make a name for himself. Ragnar and Rollo’s love-hate relationship eventually turns into a face off.

Clive Standen – in real life

Clive Standen is a famous British actor who was born on a British army base in Ireland. Clive is a fencing gold medalist as well as an international Muay Thai boxer. He trained in the prestigious London Academy Of Music And Dramatic Art before making it to the big screen. Clive starred in many television series such as Atlantis, Robin Hood, Camelot, Archer, Doctor Who, Waking the Dead, Taken, and Atlantis. Clive married in 2007 Francesca Standen, who works in the music industry, and they have three children together.

Amy Bailey as Queen Kwenthrith

Kwenthrith started out as the princess of Mercia, England. After suffering through an incredibly abusive childhood at the hands of her uncle, Kwenthrith uses her wit and perseverance to survive, she the mental torture she suffered seems to warp her sense of justice: as such, she eventually becomes the Queen Regnant, after poisoning her brother Kenelm to get the crown. She gets revolted against by her people and locked in a tower with her son, and while trying to killed her new capture, King Ecbert, is ultimately killed by Judith.

Amy Bailey – in real life

Amy Bailey was born in Texas and now splits up her time between Los Angeles and London. Amy grew up being an aspiring professional ballerina. Her hard work paid off, and she performed on the stages of the New York as well as London with the Joffrey Ballet. Amy portrayed many roles on TV as well as in movies, namely in Major Crimes, Dominion, Dark Matters: Twisted But True and quite a few more.

Alex Høgh Andersen as Ivar

Ivar is the son of Aslaug and Ragnar Lothbrok. He is known as “The Boneless” due to his deformed limbs. Ivar is on a mission to get revenge for his mother and father’s deaths. He is very loyal to his family but to no one else. He was born with a physical illness that gives him immense pains so he is therefore treated differently than the rest of his brothers. Even his brothers have called him “crazy” however he does have a very tactical and sharp mind.

Alex Høgh Andersen – in real life

Alex Høgh Andersen is a famous actor from Denmark. Alex is best known for playing Ivar the Boneless in the television series Vikings since this was his breakout role. Alex started out as an actor in plays such as Sværdet i Stenen. Alex has acted in lesser-known television shows and movies before he landed his big break on Vikings. He has acted in the television series Outsider, Tvillingerne & Julemanden, and Hedensted High. His film credits include Ødeland, and A War.

Jordan Patrick Smith as Ubbe

Ubbe is Aslaug and Ragnar Lothbrok’s firstborn son. Ubbe is a loyal son to his parents and to all of his four siblings, including his half-brother Bjorn, much to his mother’s displeasure. Ubbe is unlike the rest of the Vikings in that he does not take women without their consent when the army is on a raid and he believes in diplomacy just like his father does. Despite being an incredible and strong warrior that lead the Great Army to battle, Ubbe lacks the foresight and tactical skills that Ivar obtains in order to rule.

Jordan Patrick Smith – in real life

Jordan Smith is a Scottish-Australian actor with a Scottish accent that his viewers just can’t get enough of. Jordan got noticed when he starred in the soap opera Neighbors and began to get more and more acting jobs. Jordan’s biggest role was portraying Cliff in Angelina Jolie’s film Unbroken. Jordan was also featured in the BBC television series called Banished and he is still filming on the set of Vikings. Jordan is in a long-time relationship with his Irish actress girlfriend Sophie Vavasseur.

Gustaf Skarsgård as Floki

Floki is an impressive boat builder and notorious trickster. He was married to Helga but sadly his wife as well as both his daughter and stepdaughter all die during the series. Floki is devastated by these deaths but remained strong. Floki is Ragnar Lothbrok’s best friend and is helping him on his mission to sail west by building him an army of long boats. He even invented a boat that is able to survive through long journeys in the open seas.

Gustaf Skarsgård – in real life

Gustaf Skarsgård is a Swedish actor famous for his roles in the movies Evil, The Way Back, Kon-Tiki and of course Vikings. His father, Stellan Skarsgård, is also a Swedish actor, and three out of five of his Gustaf’s siblings also pursued acting – among them Alexander Skarsgård, who plays Nicole Kidman’s abusive husband on Big Little Lies. Gustaf was also featured in an episode of the hit television series Westworld. Gustaf married Hanna Alstrom, a fellow actress, in 1999 but they split up in 2005.

Dianne Doan as Yidu

The character Yidu is portrayed by Dianne Doan. Yidu is the illegitimate daughter of Emperor Dezong who is the ruler of China. Somehow she ends up becoming a slave who was captured in Frankia. Aslaug, Ragnar’s wife, buys her because she is interested in her Asian look and Ragnar becomes attracted to her as well. Yidu gives Ragnar a drug to help subside his pain, however, Ragnar becomes addicted to this drug and when Yidu has no more to provide Ragnar with, he drowns her.

Dianne Doan – in real life

Dianne Doan was born in 1990 in British Columbia, Canada. Dianne grew up training to be an actor as well as a dancer and she was elected to be a dancer for the Opening Ceremonies in the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. Dianne worked as a backup dancer for Marianas Trench, Michael Bublé, and So You Think You Can Dance. Dianne then switched to acting and starred in Once Upon a Time, Descendants: School of Secrets, Vikings, Guidance and she is now a main character in the show Warrior.

Moe Dunford as Aethelwulf

King Aethelwulf becomes the ruler of Wessex and Mercia just before his father King Ecbert dies in the battle of Repton. Ecbert was a manipulative man who used his son as a pawn in his plans. His father’s manipulation turns Aethelwulf from a loyal and dutiful son into a man with a violent temper. Aethelwulf’s wife is Judith, however, their relationship is complicated as well. Judith strays from what she feels is only a political marriage and turns to the monk Athelstan and has an illegitimate child with him.

Moe Dunford – in real life

Moe Dunford is an Irish actor who was born in 1987. Moe’s first big break was on the television show the Tudors in 2010 and since then his acting career has taken off. Moe has been featured in many hit television shows and critically acclaimed films such as Patrick’s Day. His television credits include the one and only Game of Thrones, Raw, An Crisis, and Vikings. He has appeared in other movies as well such as The Nixer, Handsome Devil, and many more.

Karen Hassan as Therese

Therese was a Noblewomen of the West Franks who tries to manipulate Count Odo into making her his mistress. She succeeds in her endeavors but it comes at a price. Odo is a sadistic man and enjoys whipping his lovers. Therese is a smart woman who is also Roland’s lover, Odo’s right-hand man. Together they enact a plan to tattle Odo to the emperor. Odo has let Therese in on his desire to become Emperor and once they tell the emperor this, he agrees to execute Odo.

Karen Hassan – in real life

Karen Hassan is a Northern Irish actress who is most famous for playing Lynsey Nolan in the Hollyoaks television series as well as starring in Vinings. Karen also starred in the films Hunger, The Caravan, Fifty Dead Men Walking and the short Miss Conception. Karen also held smaller supporting roles in television series such as Casualty, The Fall, The Royals, Hollyoaks Later, and many more. Most recently Keren starred in the BBC and The Comedy Unit’s series called Soft Border Patrol.

Ruby O’Leary as Gyda Ragnarsdottir

Gyda Ragnarsdottir was the Princess of the Danes and the daughter of Ragnar Lothbrok and Lagartha, Ragnar’s first wife. Gyda was a sweet and gentle girl who was learning to fight with the greatest shield-maiden of all, her mother Lagertha. Gyda tragically gets the plague and passes away. Lagertha is distraught and burns her small body. Right before Ragnar dies at the hand of King Aelle Ragnar envisions his daughter Gyda and his simple life as a farmer with his loving daughter.

Ruby O’Leary – in real life

Ruby O’Leary’s is a 13-year-old Irish actress whose first role on television was on Vikings. She starred on the show as the main character, Ragnar Lothbrok’s daughter, for 3 years. Ruby also became famous for her talent of twisting her hand around 360 degrees in a YouTube video from the set of Vikings that went viral. The other cast and crew members didn’t believe she had any bones in her body after she pulled off that stunt.

Linus Roache as King Ecbert

King Ecbert was the King of Wessex and Mercia. He hides his true and ugly personality well under a facade of friendliness, trustworthiness, and understanding. But in reality, King Ecbert was a self-serving, opportunistic and manipulative man who used anyone even his son Aethelwulf in order to further his own agenda. Despite this, King Ecbert was a strong king who successfully expelled the Vikings from his kingdom. After his death at the hands of King Aelle, his son Aethelwulf succeeds him as king.

Linus Roache – in real life

Linus Roache is an English actor who is famous for starring in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. Linus is a Golden Globe Award winner for his acting in the film RFK when he portrayed Robert F. Kennedy. Linus also starred in famous movies like The Wings of the Dove, Pandaemonium, Batman Begins, The Gathering Storm, and Non-Stop. Linus has been married to Rosalind Bennett since 2002, who is an actress best known for her role in Rosalind Bennett.

Elinor Crawley as Thyri

Thyri was Siggy and Earl Haraldson’s daughter and just like Ragnar Lothrok’s daughter Gyda, Thyri also died at the hand of the plague. Thyri was arranged to marry the much older Earl Bjarni by her father. Thyri is disgusted by the overweight and older Swedish lord and does not want to marry him. She is instead interested in Rollo who her original prospective husband but the arrangement fell through. Thyri’s mother Siggy saves her from her unhappy marriage by stabbing the Earl to death in front of the entire village.

Elinor Crawley – in real life

Elinor Crawley is a 26-year-old Wlesh actress who is famous for acting in the television series The White Queen portraying Cecily and in Vikings playing the role of Thyri. Elinor also starred in the films Submarine and Bridgend. Her smaller and supporting roles in other television series include Law & Order: UK, World Without End, Ordinary Lies, The Sarah Jane Adventures, and Doctors. Elinor has Type 1 diabetes and openly supports the Diabetes UK charity.

Peter Franzén as King Harald Finehair

King Herald is the King of Vestfold & Rogaland but he dreams of eventually becoming the king of the entire Norway empire. What is ironic is that his aspirations were not self-serving but rather to impress princess Ellisif who rejected him when for not being powerful or significant enough. When King Herald finds out that Ellisif actually married someone of lower stature than himself, he kills him. Herald is an impressive warrior and even though he is a king he still fights on the front lines among his men

Peter Franzén – in real life

Peter Franzén is a Finnish director, actor, author, and screenwriter. Peter has acted in over 50 movies and spoke in 6 different languages in the various movies and television shows he played in. His movies include Purge, Road North, Helsinki, Bad Boys, and Dog Nail Clipper. Peter has authored a number of books and an autobiography. He also directed the film called Above Dark Waters which was based on the novel that he had written.

Morgane Polanski as Princess Gisla

Gisla starts out as a princess but rises to become the Duchess of Normandy. Her father, Emperor Charles, trusts her completely and uses her as his most trusted advisor. Gisla marries Rollo, Ragnar Lothbrok’s older brother and they have three children together named William, Marcellus, and Celsa. Gisla is a very intelligent, strong-willed, and determined woman who is very loyal to her family and loved ones. However her husband Rollo leaves her and her children behind in order to fight with the Vikings.

Morgane Polanski – in real life

Morgane Polanski is 24-year-old French model and actress who is most famous for her role on Vikings as Princess Gisla. Morgane’s debut role was in her father’s film called The Pianist. Her father is Roman Polanski, who is a famous Polish filmmaker and her mother Emmanuelle Seigner who is a famous actress best known for acting in Venus in Fur and La Vie en rose. Morgane also acted in Olver Twist, The Ghost Writer, Unhallowed Ground, and The Aspern Papers.

Maude Hirst as Helga

Helga is Floki’s late, loyal wife. After years of having loving and open relationship, Floki proposed to Helga to marry him once he found out that Helga was carrying his child. Helga can be described as a hippie who is carefree and wild. Helga and Floki are outsiders and do not exactly fit in with the rest of the Vikings. Their daughter Angrboda tragically dies from a fever when she was only a child.

Maude Hirst – in real life

Maude Hirst is an English actress who is actually the daughter of Vikings producer and writer Michael Hirst. Her father also wrote and produced the film Elizabeth and its sequel, as well as the television series The Tudors, in which Maude played the role of Kat Ashley. Maude has followed in her father’s footsteps and produced and wrote a short movie titled Smoke.

Lothaire Bluteau as Emperor Charles

Emperor Charles is the emperor of the West Franks in Paris. Charles fights off the Vikings time and again with a view that it is his spiritual calling to battle these Vikings. He is a ruthless and conniving emperor who is opportunistic and clever at gaining necessary alliances such as with Rollo. His rival Count Odo and others in the court see the Emperor to be weak, though he is actually a very strong Emperor of France.

Lothaire Bluteau – in real life

Lothaire Bluteau is a 60-year-old Canadian actor who can perform in both French and English, which made him the ideal candidate to play a French emperor on the show Vikings. Lothaire has starred in the movies Orlando, I Shot Andy Warhol, Jésus de Montréal, as well as on the hit television series The Tudors. Lothaire is an award-winning actor who won the 1990 Genie Award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role.

Sophie Vavasseur as Princess Ellisif

Princess Ellisif had promised Harald to wait for him while he built a name for himself as a ruler and conquerer. However, while he fights to become the king of Denmark, Ellisif decided to marry an earl named Vik. When the three run into each other, Harald kills Vik as revenge. Ellisif then seduces Harald as a way to get close to him and avenge her husband’s murder. Her plan is ultimately thwarted by Harald’s brother, Halfdan, who stabs her before she manages to plunge her knife into Harald’s body.

Sophie Vavasseur – in real lide

Sophie Vavasseur is a 25-year-old Irish Actress. When Sophie was starting out she acted on stage and in several ad campaigns. The first film that she starred in was the film Evelyn and she was nominated for an award for playing the leading role. Sophie has also starred in the films Resident Evil: Apocalypse, Becoming Jane, Exorcismus, Poison Pen, and Bring It On: Worldwide Cheersmack. It seems like career is only beginning, with a great deal of success still ahead of her.

Jonathan Rhys Meyers as Bishop Heahmund

Bishop Heahmund is the Saxon Bishop of Wessex, England as well as a bishop warrior. Bishop Heahmund’s character is quite complicated as he holds a deep appreciation for Christianity and God, however, he still battles and sleeps with women as well as drinks alcohol. He is clearly not a  typical bishop, as he is ruthless and a great warrior. He impressed Ivar so much in battle, that Ivar gave Heahmund his own horse when Heahmund’s horse died in battle.

Jonathan Rhys Meyers – in real life

Jonathan Rhys Meyers is a famous Irish actor who has starred in unbelievable movies that everyone knows and loves including Velvet Goldmine, Bend It Like Beckham, Match Point, Mission: Impossible III, Elvis, the hit television show The Tudors, The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, and Dracula. Jonathan is also the gorgeous face behind the Hugo Boss fragrance ad campaigns. Jonathan has many awards for his acting including the GQ UK Men of the Year Awards and a Golden Globe Award.

Karima McAdams as Kassia

Kassia is a nun in Constantinople who grew up in a rich family and is a gorgeous and clever woman. She first appears on the show Vikings in Season five for only three episodes, yet she definitely makes a lasting impression. She is based on a real Byzantine abbess and poet from the 800s. She is also a composer and a hymnographer and her hymns are still cited today in church books all over the world.

Karima McAdams – in real life

Karima McAdams was born in London in 1985 and grew up in Morocco. Karima actually started out as a model when she was only a teenager she was already modeling for famous brands all across the globe. The creators of the massive computer game Lara Croft chose Karima to be the face of the famous computer game tomb raider herself, who was originally played on screen by none other than Angelina Jolie. They believe that the Seer has a strong connection to the gods with supernatural powers to be able to answer any of the Viking’s questions about their fate. The Vikings honor and value the Seer almost equal to that of the King of Kattegat.

Ealhswith is King Aelle’s Queen consort in Northumbria as well as Judith’s mother. Ealhswith is also the mother of Bjaela and Ecgberht. Ealhswith is seen in the first season of Vikings when King Aelle and their son Ecgberht welcome Aethelwulf to Northumbria. Aethelwulf is King Aelle’s brother as well as the head of the army. Aethelwulf asks Ealhswith why she doesn’t laugh at his jokes and teases her asking if she has no time to laugh? She eerily responds that she only has time to fear.

Halfdan is King Herald’s brother and is a dark and cruel man. He tortures his enemies as well as urinates on their dead bodies. Halfdan is an impressive warrior who carries both an ax and a sword while in battle. Halfdan is loyal to his brother and when he finds out that King Herald’s true love Ellisif had married another man Halfdan immediately tries to kill her but King Herald stops him. He finally is able to kill Ellisif when she attempts to murder King Herald.

Jasper Pääkkönen – in real life

Jasper Pääkkönen is a 37 year old Finnish actor who has starred in many films over the years. Jasper has won the Jussi Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in the 2013 film Heart of a Lion when he portrayed Harri. Jasper also starred in Bad Boys, Helsinki, Naked Harbour, and is currently filming the Naked the Black Klansman. Jasper has acted in a few Finnish television shows and soap operas including Salatut elämät and Kaunis mies.

Carrie Crowley as Elisef

Elisef was Erik’s wife, who was Ragnar Lothbrok’s warrior and good friend. Erik was one of the first warriors to support Ragnar’s idea to journey west and helped in recruit more warriors for the journey. Elisef lives in Kattegat and when Erik returns from the journey west she is overjoyed that he survived. He tells her of all the bounty and slaves they acquired on the raid. However, he was later killed by Earl Haraldson’s men. Elisef weeps when she found his dead body.

Carrie Crowley is 53 year old an Irish actress who is known for being a radio and television presenter. Carrie had her own talk show called Limelight. Carrie has acted on the soap opera Fair City, the television show The Clinic, the children’s television show The Morbegs, and Echo Island. Carrie was the presenter at the famous Eurovision Song Contest 1997. She also had her own health food television talk show called Pulse. She has gone back to being a radio show host on RTÉ Radio 1.

George Blagden as Athelstan

Athelstan was taken away from his home in Northumbria, England by Ragnar Lothbrok and his Viking army. Athelstan was a Christian monk before he was taken to be a slave by the Vikings. Athelstan is troubled in his new reality of living amongst the Vikings, he begins to question his faith. While extremely intelligent, it is very hard for him to cope with this new culture, which clashes with his old beliefs. Athelstan later dies in combat in the fourth season of Vikings.

George Blagden – in real life

George Blagden is 28 year old English actor who is famous for playing Athelstan on Vikings. George also starred in the famous musical film Les Misérables as Grantaire. Currently, George is acting in the television series Versailles as the role of Louis XIV. George may not have much experience on film but he has already won multiple awards including the National Board of Review of Motion Pictures award for Best Acting by an Ensemble. George was even nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Awards.

Anna Åström as Hild

Hild is a Kattegat servant from Uppsala, Sweden. Ragnar Lothbrok is very attracted to the servant Hild while his wife Aslaug is pregnant. Aslaug grows very jealous and angry with Hild and threatens her. Aslaug later confronts her husband Ragnar about his interest in Hild but Ragnar succeeds in calming her down. While confronting Ragnar Aslaug prophesies that their future baby will be a boy and will have the marking of Fafnir, the serpent-dragon hybrid that Aslaug’s father had slain.

Anna Åström – in real life

Anna Åström was born Lerum, Sweden in 1990. Anna is known for acting in the film called Us in 2013. Anna also starred in film Pure in 2010 as Cicci, in the television series Black Lake as Elin, and in the film Ego. Anna also held supporting roles in Home is Here, Into the Forest, The Hundred Code, Sleeper Cell, and Viva Hate. Most recently Anna has been working on the film How You Look at Me and the short Utopic Dystopia.

Alyssa Sutherland as Queen Aslaug

Aslaug is a talented and beautiful woman who can see into the future. Aslaug originally becomes Ragnar’s lover while he was still married to Lagertha. Ragnar is on a mission to sail west in order to obtain their riches and eventually becomes the king of Scandinavia. While his wife, Lagertha, is seemingly infertile, Aslaug becomes pregnant with his child. Ragnar tried to have both of them as his wives but Lagertha refuses and runs away with their son Bjorn. Lagertha eventually kills Aslaug, becoming Queen of Kattegat in her stead.

Alyssa Sutherland – in real life

Alyssa Sutherland is an Australian model and actress. She was signed by Vogue Australia and was featured in many campaigns for such iconic fashion houses as Chanel, Hugo Boss, Bulgari, and Ralph Lauren. She has also graced the cover of a slew of fashion magazines including Harper’s Bazaar and Vogue. Alyssa has also starred in quite a few movies and television series including The Devil Wears Prada, New Amsterdam, and The Mist. In 2012 Alyssa married her long-time boyfriend Laurence Shanet, a film director, in Thailand.

Katheryn Winnick as Queen Lagertha

Lagertha is a famous shield maiden who could fight alongside any male counterpart and is adept in battle. She was the first wife of King Ragnar. And while she may be extremely loyal to those she loves, you do not want to get on her bad side, as she is known to be vicious and conniving against her enemies. The prophecy that Lagertha would have no other children other than Bjorn and Gyda deeply upset Ragnar, who turned to Aslaug to help him have more children.
