The airline is well aware of the fact that flying can be uncomfortable for most (especially if you, like most people, are flying in coach). For this reason, they do all they can to make sure that you’re taken care of in every possible way. And that’s why they make sure to provide you with stewardesses that can really bring a smile to your face when you need it most. Make no mistake… it may look easy, but being a flight attendant is no walk in the park.
They don’t allow just anyone to do the job. The attendant is required to do all of the things you’re used to seeing them do: serve you food, drinks, answer questions, and pretty much help you out with anything you may need. But there is another thing they’re required to do that is probably the most important of all – they must smile at you graciously, and make you feel at home. In a strange way, this is probably the hardest thing to do – even more than serving the food. Let us explain.
Even the happiest people on earth have their off days. Even the most kind people you’ve ever met have had moments where they feel like they’ve just had enough. This is totally fine… having ups and downs are a natural part of life, and they’re healthy for everyone to go through every now and then. But when you’re required to constantly put on a brave face at work, that can be hard to do if you’re not feeling up to it. This is why airlines are extremely selective about the flight attendants they choose – they want to make sure the candidate can withstand it.
There is nothing quite as wonderful as a stewardess who can lift your spirits when you’re about to embark on a long flight – and some of them are more up to the task than others.
