Prom night is staple in American culture. So much so, in fact, that there are tons of films about that night alone. For starters, you have the horror thriller Prom Night. The teen thriller takes place at – you guess it – prom night where a killer is on the loose and eliminating high school students one by one. On the lighter side there’s Mean Girls. The hilarious comedy wraps up with a touching and affecting moment at the prom. The event unites the characters after they go through serious turmoil. There are so many iconic moments in film and TV – from 10 Things I Hate About You to American Pie and Pretty in Pink – to watch and reminisce about your own big night.

That being said, prom night comes with it a pretty hefty price tag. Buying a dress or a tuxedo, a ride to and from the event, and all the shenanigans that take place afterwards definitely tallies up. We can guarantee that our parents were not too thrilled about footing that bill. If your parents are famous, however, that probably isn’t so much of a problem.

It’s easy to forget that celebrity parents are still parents at the end of the day. They love to celebrate their kids in the most embarrassing of ways. Many of them, like Kate Beckinsale and Martin Sheen, embarrass their young ones by posting nerdy parent photos of their kids online. Others love to match their own kids’ glamor at their prom night. Just because many of these parents are award-winning actors, supermodels, and musicians, that doesn’t mean they are exempt from being uncool parents to their young ones at the end of the day.
