With the increasing popularity and growth of the reality television industry, comes along a new category of fame – the reality TV star. Not too long ago, you had to be an actor, TV host, anchor, etc in order to be considered a television star. Nowadays, you just have to be interesting and be willing to live your life in front of cameras. Some of the biggest and highest-earning stars today – such as the Kardashians – got their start on a reality show.
Although it may seem like reality TV stars have an easy road to fame, it isn’t necessarily the case. Yes, they get paid pretty well for what they do and yes, if their show is a hit then they will most likely become a celebrity, but it isn’t as easy as it may seem. And so, with enough persistence and exhibitionism, every so often a new reality star is born – and these days, leading the charge is beauty pageant extraordinaire Savannah Chrisley, who stars with the rest of her family in the reality show Chrisley Knows Best.
Living your daily life in front of cameras takes some time getting used to, and it can be a challenge, to say the least. Being a reality TV star means that you have to agree to share even your most personal moments with millions of strangers. It basically means that you have very limited to no privacy. If there is drama in your life, the cameras will catch it.
Chrisley Knows Best is a reality television show that follows the lives of the Atlanta-based family. Todd Chrisley, the patriarch of the household, has been making waves with his fabulous southern accent and his hilarious one-liners. He is a multi-millionaire who made his wealth as a real estate mogul in Georgia. The Chrisley family live a seemingly picture-perfect Southern lifestyle in their ginormous mansion, yet they prove to have the same conflicts and challenges that any typical family would have – though a tad more melodramatic.
Todd Chrisley is not the only star in the family, his younger daughter, as his lovely and intelligent daughter Savannah has also been making an impression on the show’s audience. At the young age of 20, she already has a full plate of responsibilities and titles, from college student to fashion designer, to makeup expert, to beauty queen, and a whole lot more.
If you are one of the nearly 2 million viewers who tune in each Tuesday night to watch Chrisley Knows Best, then you are familiar with Southern multimillionaire Todd Chrisley and his hilarious antics. Although the popular reality series is known for Todd’s unique behavior, unorthodox parenting techniques and insanely funny one-liners, the true MVP of the show has got to be his younger daughter, the lovely 20-year-old Savannah Chrisley.
With her grace, charm, and beauty it is no surprise that this Southern belle is a beauty pageant queen. She has taken part in several beauty pageants, and took home the title of Miss Tennessee Teen USA in 2015. The following year she narrowly missed making it to the top five in the Miss Teen USA pageant. However, she is not planning on giving up and still has dreams of making it to Miss Georgia one day.
A good sport
Savannah proved her true class and sportsmanship after losing the Miss Teen USA contest in 2016. She immediately took to social media to thank her fans, congratulate the winner, and state that she admired each and every contestant. She even boasted about a new friendship she made along the way with Miss Nevada Carissa Morrow, who made it to the top 5. She shared a picture of the two hanging out along with the words, “There’s nothing better than new friendships.”
More than a pretty face
Savannah, it should be noted, is more than just a pretty young woman, as she is also a brilliant straight-A student who has an impressive 4.2 grade point average. She prides herself on her school work and refuses to give up on her education despite her rising fame. She started off studying at Lipscomb University in Nashville,Tennessee, but later decided to move to Belmont University where she is currently studying Music Business in hopes of becoming a music manager or agent after she graduates.
Not only is she a full-time student and reality TV star, she also has her very own clothing line. The line, which is called Faith Over Fear, is filled with “casual and chic styles for every woman” and is currently being sold on the Home Shopping Network channel and website. The exclusive fashion collection is her first ever, and she plans on continuing to design comfortable, stylish and affordable clothes for every type of woman.
To add on top of designing clothing lines, studying for her degree, and appearing in almost every episode of Chrisley Knows Best, Savannah will also be taking on another job, in her very own reality series. In August 2017, it was announced that not only will Todd Chrisley be getting his own late-night variety show titled According to Chrisley, but his children Chase and Savannah will also be starring in their own show. The series will follow Todd’s daughter and son as they navigate through adulthood.
Social media expert
As if Savannah doesn’t have enough going on, she also manages to maintain a solid social media presence. According to Savannah, she spends at least half an hour each morning catching up with her social media profiles and interacting with her many fans. And she has a whole lot of fans, with 1.5 million followers on Instagram and 334 thousand on Twitter.
Savannah also knows how to give some pretty amazing makeup tips, and is quick to share them with her many online followers. Some of her tips include: always use primer, apply eyeshadow before foundation, and to be confident in the features we were born with (maybe she meant by enhancing them?) She admits to struggling with her confidence and to hating the mole on top of her lip so much that she used to cover it. Now she embraces it and encourages others to love what their mamma gave them.
Love the skin you are in
Savannah has admitted that when she was young, she was so self-conscious of how she looked without makeup, that she would not be caught dead without at least foundation and eyeliner. She is now not afraid to be without makeup, and frequently shares photos on social media with her bare, makeup-free face, encouraging other women to do the same and to love the skin you are in. She tells her followers, “No amount of makeup will make you beautiful” as a form of encouragement.
Comebacks of her own
Although Todd is the one typically known for insulting his family members, especially Savannah, with his famous one-liners, Savannah has a few comebacks and snarky remarks rolled up her sleeves as well. For example, how can we forget when her father showed up with a leather jacket and motorcycle and Savannah put him in his place, “Who do you think you are and what have you done with your fashion sense?”
All about family
Despite her on-screen feuds with her father and brother, Chase, she is actually very close to her family, and has an especially warm bond with her father. After he hosted the red carpet before the Golden Globes earlier this year, she was quick to shout out to her dad on Instagram, along with a cute picture of the duo, saying “Unbelievably proud of this superstar that I get to call my dad!! You’re KILLING it tonight on @eentertainment for the #goldenglobes #dreamsdocometrue.”
First big breakup
Savannah has dated her fair share of handsome celebrities. Her longest of the relationships has been with country singer Blaire Hanks, who she was with from January 2015 until January 2017. When the couple broke up, she tearfully took to Facebook and posted a video explaining to her fans what had happened. In the video she spoke honestly about their relationship, and said “So to cut to the point, Blaire and I are no longer dating. It hurts, it does.”
The breakup didn’t come at the best time for poor Savannah, who had broken her vertebrae in a serious car crash only one week prior. In typical Savannah fashion, she was quick to share with her fans before they found out on some other media outlet. She uploaded a picture of herself in the hospital after the accident, next to an inspiring quote from pastor Steven Furtick that read, “The only way God can show us he’s in control is to put us in situations we can’t control.”
A brief second
Savannah explained what had happened, and described the life-changing experience in detail on social media, “My floor mat had gotten stuck behind my pedals so I looked down for a brief second to try to get it out of the way and then I realized that I was headed straight towards the guardrails.” Luckily, she was wearing a seatbelt, which she said is ultimately what saved her life.
After recovering from her car crash, Savannah grew stronger than ever. She even moved on ׳ןאי her love life – to another celebrity boyfriend, NBA star Chandler Parsons, a month after her breakup with Blaire. After weeks of rumors flying around about the two being an item, Savannah admitted during an interview On Access Hollywood alongside her dad, that she and the basketball player were “having fun.” Todd was less than pleased about his daughter’s new beau, alluding to his ladies man status as a professional baller. “Listen, he’s got a great personality. But, you know, he’s an NBA player.”
Savannah was in the center of some Twitter drama, which is what allegedly led to the breakup of the alleged romance between Savannah and Chandler. Only a month after Savannah gushing on-air over her “friendship” with the NBA player, she threw some major shade at actress Bella Thorne, after Bella posted a photo on Snapchat of her wearing a fishnets outift with Chandler’s jersey number on her drawn face while attending one of is games. Savannah, who is the offspring of the king of shade, went to Instagram Live to talk about how she didn’t know if fishnets should be making a comeback unless it’s Halloween… ouch!
Dodged a bullet
After a brief break from the dating world, Savannah decided to give it a go once more and announced her relationship with another)\ NBA player, Luke Kennard, in April 2017. It got so serious that she even brought him along to the Cayman Islands with the whole Chrisley clan to celebrate her 20th birthday. After four months, however, the couple called it quits. According to the reality star, she “dodged a bullet” by breaking up with him.
A loving daughter
Ever since Savannah was born on August 11, 1997, her parents, especially her father, have been extremely protective of her. While her mother tends to be understanding about Savannah wanting freedom and dating, Todd is a lot less understanding and more strict and has admitted to having to drill each new boyfriend with 20 questions before allowing her to date him. Savannah also has a special relationship with her mom, who often takes her side more than her father does, she once said that her definition of happiness is seeing her mother smile, awww.
Partner in crime
Savannah and Chase are close in age, with only one year between them. So naturally, as siblings that close in age often do, they argue. However, Savannah’s relationship with Chase goes beyond bickering back and forth, and he is actually her partner-in-crime and best friend. On his birthday, she shared a sweet childhood photo of the duo along with a sentimental message, “I will forever love you and cherish the relationship that we have. No matter where life takes us I will ALWAYS need my big brother.”
The reality star has always been a huge fan of music, country music in particular. She once said in an interview, that she developed a passion for country music when she was a little girl and used to drive around in the car with her grandfather listening to country classics by Loretta Lynn and George Jones. Her favorite TV show also just happens to be CMT’s Nashville, which is part of the reason why she decided to switch her major to Music Business.
The bigger person
Savannah has shown us time and again that she is awfully mature for a 20-year-old. After she revealed via Twitter that her boyfriend at the time, Blaire, was married before- she posted some nasty remarks about his ex-wife. She deleted the tweet shortly after, and posted a long heartfelt apology letter to her fans, and said “I am so much better than those tweets,” and she urged her fans to learn from her mistakes, “don’t let an ex get the best of you and cause you to stoop to their level. Take time and make your relationship stronger.”
In October 2017, Savannah was spotted out with yet another athlete, 30-year-old MLB player Tim Tebow. Rumors spread like wildfire that the two were an official couple after Savannah shared photos of the pair at a concert together. While they would have made a dashing couple, Savannah laughed off the rumors and said, “There is no couple to it,” and that they just have a lot of “mutual friends.”
Not only is Savannah a loving daughter and sister, she is also an aunt! She frequently posts photos on her Instagram page with her adorable niece Chloe, who is her brother Kyle’s daughter and Todd’s granddaughter. Savannah’s parents currently have custody of Chloe, and Savannah took to Instagram to shut down the haters who claim they are using her for ratings on their show. Savannah said, ” When I look at Coco…I don’t see a color! I see a child of God who is so innocent and beautiful and I’m going to do what I can to keep it that way.” She said that although Chloe is her niece, she is basically her baby sister.
The reality star has proven time and time again that she has a big heart. Not just for her family, but for strangers as well. She is frequently volunteering her time to cheer up children who are suffering from cancer. Savannah took to Instagram to share a photo of her and her little friend Chase, a cancer patient who dreamt of meeting the Chrisleys. Savannah met him on social media and met him in person shortly after, taking him to Dave and Busters, a candy store, and out for lunch. Savannah wrote, “I love you Chase…you have taught me so much about life, love, and so much more.”
Although Savannah sure loves the glamorous lifestyle of the rich and famous, she hasn’t forgotten about her country roots and still considers herself a country girl at heart. She enjoys doing outdoor activities such as fishing and horseback riding during her spare time, which unfortunately is very limited these days due to her rising fame. She still however, tries to find time in her busy life to sit back and enjoy the outdoors.
On Chrisley Knows Best, we see that the Chrisley family takes religion very seriously in their household. Savannah is a proud devoted Christian, just like the other members of the fam, and often shares inspirational quotes about God on her social media accounts such as, “Instead of letting your mistakes define you and hold you back, embrace them and learn from them and move forward. Because I can assure you…God has already forgiven you! So focus on being the best you and no longer being a slave to fear…because you are a child of God.”
Savannah loves sharing pictures with her fans from her childhood, so when she shared this gem of a photo it was without doubt that she would get thousands of likes, over 39 thousand to be exact. Before Savannah was the reality star and beauty queen that she is today, she was just a somewhat average kid living a pretty normal life. She was on the cheerleading team throughout middle school and high school. Along with the photo she wrote, “Don’t worry kids…you still have a chance.”
Growing up on TV
It is hard to believe that Savannah was only 15-years-old when she started having her life documented on Chrisley Knows Best. She said that although it wasn’t easy at first, it has caused her to grow up quicker than most teens her age did. “It was a lot of change at once and that was really difficult. It’s caused me to grow up a lot faster, which has its pros and cons.” She continued, “I’ve come a long way since the show started. At the beginning of the show, I was actually kind of shy.”
Balancing it all
When Savannah was asked in an interview how she manages to balance the show with school (and everything else going on in her life) she admitted that it has been a challenge. “My life is just really hectic and I’m constantly running.” She continued, “School has always been my number one priority. We made sure that everyone who works on the show knows that so I make sure I do have time to go to class and get my school work done.”
With both Savannah and Chase away at college, Todd has admitted to becoming an “empty nester” but said he is constantly keeping up with what his kids, especially Savannah, are doing. “I got my nose in all of their business, even the business they don’t think I know they got business with. The world is watching my children, so if they are doing something, someone else is getting a picture of it and posting it on social media.” Guess that’s the downside of living your life in the public eye!
