Did you know that around $500 billion is spent each year on advertising? Many companies battle it out to get their commercials in the Super Bowl, so much so it is believed that 30 seconds can cost more than $3 million – ouch. As if that wasn’t enough, it’s thought that by the time we retire we will have seen over 2 million commercials in our lifetime. That’s a lot of information to take in. Over the years, there have been many things that make us remember those products. A catchy jingle is almost a must, with a snappy slogan and memorable character being some of the next best things. Who cares what the company is selling? As long as we remember who they are, we are more likely to buy their stuff. They become our retail best friends.
With all this advertising competition in the world, it can be almost impossible for new businesses to stand out amongst the crowd. As well as being forced to pay huge commercial fees, companies may also have to think outside the box when it comes to getting those sales. However, we all love what we know. They need to really up their game if they want to stand out above the big brands. So what are they to do? Offer up incredible deals that seem out of this world and make us want to buy, of course! How else does anyone get anything nowadays? Sadly for these companies, these eagle-eyed shoppers noticed these truths lying in front of us and are here to show the world the deceptive advertisements companies hoped you wouldn’t see. Maybe we should start reading the fine print, after all?
