Spending the time in Montreal

Nipping across the border to Canada might not seem like the top idea on most Americans lists, but perhaps it should be. The Great White North is not only a friendly and fun place to be, but it’s also somewhere full of new opportunities and fresh experiences. To get the real feel for the true Canada you want to go somewhere that gives you that perfect blend of French and Canadian.

You want to head for Montreal. The largest city in Quebec is one of the smartest and most beautiful, and the perfect place to kick-start your Canadian pilgrimage. You want to soak up everything Montreal has to offer, but you probably won’t have the time for that. So we’re going to give you some highlights to help you make the most of the cultural, culinary, and historical hotspots in Montreal.

Go on a food tour

Foodies of the worlds, gather round and rejoice! This city is the perfect place to start your Canadian culinary adventure, as it’s got some of the best eateries in all of Canada. In fact, there are more restaurants per capita here than in New York City! Take that The Big Apple! You’re a little spoilt for choice in terms of the food tours you could take in the city so we would recommend you check out Mile End Food Tour – it’s one of the best in the city, and you won’t regret it!

Climb Mount Royal

Don’t worry, you’re not going to need to get the hiking boots and crampons out, as Mount Royal is a relatively small mountain. But, it is perfectly located, and overlooks the entire city, giving you breathtaking views. You can catch a bus to the summit, but why would you want to do that when you can walk? You get to enjoy the beauty of nature, as well as getting some fresh air and exercise at the same time!

St. Paul Street

The great thing about Montreal is the French infusion around every corner, and nowhere is this more apparent than when you take a walk down St. Paul Street. This is one of the highlights of any trip to Montreal and is great for getting some of the cool European vibes in the city. Restaurants and bars are here in abundance (if you want some more of the delicious local cuisine) and there are some awesome art galleries and museums here as well – it’s an affordable and excellent tourist hotspot.

Go to the market

These days, staying in an Airbnb seems to be all the rage, and the great thing is that this gives you a chance to make some meals yourself. To do this, you’re going to need the freshest, tastiest ingredients. So, we recommend you visit one of the local markets in Montreal and pick up some of the incredible fresh produce they have here. You could even go for a market tour if you want to sample all of them.

These are just a few of the epic things you might choose to do when you visit Montreal. There are others as well, of course, there are, but these are what we would recommend. They will give you the chance to sample all the great things we love about Montreal, and you’ll want to come back time and again.
